Sources: Pondexter, Spurs reach 1-year deal

The San Antonio Spurs have reached an agreement on a one-year deal with free-agent wing Quincy Pondexter, league sources told ESPN.

After multiple surgical procedures on his left knee and contracting the skin infection MRSA, sources said Pondexter is finally fully healthy.

The news comes on the same day that longtime Spurs guard Manu Ginobili announced his retirement.

Pondexter, 30, played in 23 games for the Chicago Bulls during the 2017-18 season before being waived.

When healthy, the 6-foot-7 swingman was one of the league’s conventional 3-and-D players.

He was the 26th pick in the 2010 NBA draft.

He will have an opportunity to compete for rotational minutes and also serve as a veteran leader for the Spurs’ young core.

Pondexter has averaged 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game for his career.
